There’s so much great stuff to eat and do in North Texas. But what’s the best? Just as the year ends, here’s a moment for us — and you — to look back at the best of the best for 2023. Local Profile voted internally on its favorites and, over the past year, let you do the same. While readers’ choice isn’t for every category, hundreds of y’all replied, letting us know what your favorites were. And for that, we thank you.

Best Barbecue

Hutchins BBQ

9225 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033 | 972.377.2046
1301 N. Tennessee St., McKinney, TX 75069 | 972.548.2629

Whether it’s the brisket, the pork ribs, the smoked sausage or, let’s be honest, anything on the menu, you’re in for some of the best barbecue in North Texas — no, strike that — in the entire state. Be sure to save room for Texas twinkies and all-you-can-eat peach cobbler and banana pudding. Hutchins BBQ has not one, but two locations in Collin County.

Readers’ Choice: Hutchins BBQ

“Don’t ask why — trust and try! I promise you, the answer is in the barbecue!” — Stephanie D.

Readers’ Choice Runner-up: Lockhart Smokehouse

Barbecue smoked over Texas post oak, sliced to order and served on butcher paper — AKA, barbecue done right. Be sure to save room for the jalapeño-laced mac and cheese.

“So tender, and great sides!” — Janet H.
