Why wait for a driver — or worse, leave the house — when your food can be flown straight to your door? That’s the new reality for residents of Frisco and Little Elm, thanks to DoorDash and Flytrex’s newly launched drone delivery service.
The partnership expands upon a successful pilot program and now brings aerial food delivery from dozens of local and national restaurants to more than 30,000 households across the area.
How It Works
Operating daily from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., this marks Flytrex’s first integration with a third-party app. Customers can now select drone delivery directly through the DoorDash app, with orders prepped at restaurants and flown autonomously to their backyards. Frisco's drone delivery zone currently serves over 100,000 residents, with additional North Texas locations expected to launch soon.
DoorDash now leads the region in drone delivery availability, offering the longest hours and the highest payload capacity. Flytrex’s drones can carry up to 6.6 pounds, already the largest in the area, with next-gen models increasing that limit to 8.8 pounds. According to Flytrex CEO and co-founder Yariv Bash, the service is tailored to modern suburban life.
"Your food arrives hot or cold as intended, and you get contactless delivery right to your backyard,” Bash said in an official statement. “For busy families juggling work and activities, it's a game-changer that fits perfectly into your daily routine."
How Frisco Became A Delivery Pioneer
Frisco became a national pioneer in drone delivery when Wing launched its first U.S. metro service at Frisco Station with Walgreens in 2021. By 2023, Wing expanded citywide through a partnership with Walmart, starting at the Preston Road Supercenter.

In December 2024, Wing teamed up with DoorDash and Brookfield Properties to bring ultra-fast drone delivery to shopping malls, launching at Stonebriar Centre and Fort Worth’s Hulen Mall — another first in the U.S.
But now, Frisco residents can get far more than mall food dropped at their doorsteps. After completing more than 1,000 successful test deliveries, Flytrex’s pilot program proved not only viable but in demand. Flytrex also developed sophisticated drone traffic control systems, allowing multiple drone operators to navigate overlapping delivery zones while avoiding flight conflicts. The result: broader, safer suburban coverage, and a new normal for fast, futuristic delivery in North Texas.
The Future of Drone Delivery in Collin County and Beyond
Drone delivery in North Texas is on the verge of a major leap. Wing, another leading company in the field, plans to triple its regional network of delivery nests, from 25 to 75, in 2025. These hubs will be located in high-traffic commercial zones such as shopping centers and malls, with additional sites to be announced.
According to Kamesh Namuduri, an electrical engineering professor at the University of North Texas, this is just the beginning. “The next five years are going to be very exciting,” he previously told Local Profile, pointing to NASA and FAA’s Advanced Air Mobility project, which aims to introduce unmanned air taxis and air ambulances by 2030, ushering in an entirely new mode of transportation across North Texas.
Drone delivery is set to take off in North Texas, with major players like DoorDash, Flytrex and Wing driving the next wave of expansion across the region.
