Frisco residents’ calls for a Whole Foods Market are finally being answered. Construction is officially underway on the city’s first location of the popular natural and organic foods grocer, which will anchor the upscale retail center at The Mix, a $3 billion, 112-acre mixed-use development at Dallas Parkway and Lebanon Road.

The Whole Foods Market is part of the first phase of The Mix — previously known as Wade Park — which broke ground in January 2025. The 28-acre initial phase will include:

  • 100,000 square feet of retail space
  • 115,000 square feet of Class-A office space
  • 635 urban residential units
  • A portion of the eight-acre central park

“Frisco residents will finally get the Whole Foods Market they have long wanted, thanks to the efforts of The Mix,” said Frisco City Council Member John Keating in an official statement. “The community has been asking for this unique shopping experience for years, and we are excited to see it come to fruition."

Design Inspired by the Texas Prairie

Designed by Arcadis, the retail center draws on natural elements of the North Texas landscape. Principal designer Giuseppe Colosimo said the aesthetic is rooted in the iconic features of the region — bluebonnet fields, layered stones and open prairie terrain.

The architecture incorporates eco-friendly technologies and sustainability-focused features while maintaining a modern and visually striking presence. “The result is a cohesive design that creates a sense of connection to the region,” Colosimo said.

What’s Ahead for The Mix

The Mix is located in Frisco’s North Platinum Corridor, with direct access from the Dallas North Tollway and surrounding major roads. Upon completion, the development will feature:

  • Over 2 million square feet of Class A office space
  • 375,000 square feet of upscale retail
  • Two hotels
  • More than 3 million square feet of residential units

Whole Foods Expands North Texas Presence

Frisco isn’t the only Collin County city welcoming a Whole Foods Market. McKinney’s West Grove District will see its own location open just before fall. The 45,000-square-foot store at 8701 West University Drive will anchor the 52-acre West Grove development near Custer Road.

Announced back in 2022, the McKinney location was part of developer De La Vega Development’s long-term vision for the master-planned community.

With both The Mix and West Grove, North Texas is seeing a wave of new mixed-use communities centered around walkability, design and experience, and grocery anchors that reflect the region’s evolving tastes.
