Plano-based shopping center Legacy West announced that it is currently seeking out 12 applicants to join its 2024 Small Business Cohort in order to help small businesses thrive.

The annual initiative gives small businesses throughout the Dallas-Forth Worth region the opportunity to work with Legacy West over the course of a year in an accelerator-like setting. Through the program, the North Texas shopping mall provides independent companies with resources, mentorship, education, in addition to unique retail opportunities.

Small businesses participating in this year’s cohort include Angie’s Pet Bakery (pet treats), Concrete Dream (handmade concrete decor), Ezra Coffee Co. (caffeinated beverage brand), Ditty (gluten-free snacks) and Topyn (purse designer), among others.

Berna Buentello, founder of handcrafted jewelry brand Creteation, says that her participation in Legacy West’s program was a big help in advancing her business.

"For me, everything has been beneficial and has helped my business grow," said Buentello. "The pop-ups have provided more revenue to reinvest back into my business, the connections and guest speakers have led to me being on local TV which has brought more attention to my brand and customers. The mentorship that Legacy West has provided has helped me navigate, get answers and suggestions to things that would have been an additional strain to figure out on my own."

North Texas small businesses can apply online for the 2024 cohort via this Google form.

Legacy West will also be hosting a Small Business Cohort information session on Oct. 18, 2023, at the Renaissance Hotel in Plano, located at 6007 Legacy Dr, Plano, TX 75024. To RSVP for the event, click here.
