Frisco claimed the No. 1 spot in a new nationwide study ranking the best cities for remote workers in 2025. The Dallas suburb beat out competitors across the country, rising from last year’s No. 2 ranking.

The report, conducted by Wave Connect (via Culturemap Dallas), awarded Frisco an impressive score of 99 out of 100, cementing the city as a leading destination for professionals who no longer need a traditional office.

Allen and Plano also landed on the list, with Allen ranking third at a score of 78 and Plano coming in sixth with 57.

Why Frisco Leads the Pack

Several factors pushed Frisco to the top. Residents enjoy some of the fastest internet in the nation, with average download speeds reaching 271 Mbps. That kind of digital infrastructure is critical for employees who rely on smooth video calls and large file transfers.

Financially, the city also holds an advantage. Remote workers in Frisco earn a median annual salary of $111,000, one of the highest in the study. At the same time, local spending is relatively modest: Frisco tied for the lowest yearly average spent on dining out, at just $2,300 per person.

Housing and overall cost of living also worked in the city’s favor. Along with Allen and Plano, Frisco benefits from a cost-of-living index of 92.7, the lowest among the top 10 cities named in the study.

The Local Numbers

Remote work is a significant piece of Frisco’s economy. As Local Profile previously reported, more than one-third of the city’s workforce — 40,029 people out of 117,193 residents aged 16 and older — work from home. While that figure is slightly lower than the 46,381 remote workers reported in 2024, Frisco’s share remains one of the highest in the country.

A Shift That’s Here To Stay

The pandemic accelerated a cultural and technological shift toward remote work, allowing employees across the U.S. to relocate to communities that better fit their lifestyles. Frisco, with its strong internet infrastructure, competitive wages, and relatively affordable cost of living, has become a prime example of how cities can thrive in this new era.

North Texas as a whole remains a top destination for remote workers, valued for its relatively low cost of living, favorable climate and safety. With the new addition of Fields, Universal Kids Resort on the way and Dallas just a short drive, there are endless ways to stay entertained. While migration is slowing as companies recall employees to the office, the influx of businesses relocating to the area suggests the real estate market will remain strong, even as remote workers return to in-person roles.

And with national recognition at the top of the list, it seems clear that Frisco’s reputation as a hub for remote professionals isn’t just a trend, it’s becoming part of the city’s identity.
