Frisco Independent School District was officially named the recipient of the 2025 PGA of America Community Impact Award, recognizing its partnership with the PGA of America and its efforts to bring the sport of golf closer to local students and families.

A Growing Partnership

The award, created in 2023, honors a North Texas organization each time a PGA of America spectator championship is held at PGA Frisco. Frisco ISD becomes the second-ever recipient, following Reveal Suits, who received the inaugural award during the 2023 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship

Today, the PGA District acts as an extension of campus life for Frisco students, a second home where many young athletes regularly practice, compete and even learn about future careers in golf.

"We are honored to present the PGA of America's Community Impact Award to Frisco ISD, recognizing their unwavering dedication and partnership in supporting our mission to grow the game of golf,” said PGA of America Chief People Officer Sandy Cross. “The district’s commitment to educating Frisco students plays a vital role in fostering the next generation of golfers, reinforcing Frisco’s profile not only as a desirable place to live but a thriving community for sports and education.”

Creating Opportunities for Students

From district-wide art contests to student volunteer roles at world-class tournaments, the PGA of America and Frisco ISD are working together to provide hands-on, real-world experiences for students. Last year, fifth-grader Annie Jiang of Anderson Elementary saw her artwork transformed into the final mural design for the PGA of America Coaching Center.

More than 15 students from Frisco ISD will serve as standard bearers at the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, while others will volunteer throughout the tournament grounds. As part of the award, all FISD students received complimentary tickets to attend the June 19–22 event at Fields Ranch East.

Spotlight on the 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

The event marks a milestone as the event comes to Frisco for the first time. Hosted in partnership with the PGA of America, the LPGA and KPMG, a global professional services firm known for advancing women’s leadership, the tournament is one of the five majors on the LPGA Tour.

The field will feature top names like Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, defending champion Amy Yang and rising stars including Rose Zhang and Charley Hull. A special Junior Day during Championship Week will also give young golfers a chance to engage with the event and explore the sport in new ways.
