As the song from Porgy and Bess goes, “summertime and the living is easy.” Especially when you decide to make a dessert that is a snap to make, using frozen puff pastry as the base and fruit in-season.

Jasper’s, a chef-driven concept famous for their Blue Cheese Chips and Big Daddy Martini, is one of those places that everyone likes. They serve “gourmet backyard cuisine,” and they don’t skimp on flavor.

It may be a cliché but when it comes to Legacy West some things are worth waiting for.

It’s been too long since I visited Lima Taverna but it’s one of the most interesting, creative and one-of-a-kind restaurants in Plano.

Assemble this dessert, pop it in your freezer, and you’ll have something at the ready for a refreshing end to a summertime repast.

This is a perfect main-course salad to serve on a hot, sultry day. With the exception of the rice, there is very little cooking involved and you can even make it with pre-cooked rice you zap in the microwave.

Legacy Hall is the first of its kind in Plano, the 55,000 square-foot anchor of Legacy West. Altogether it will hold around 2,500 people when it’s finally completed.

Part of the fun of Legacy West has been the speed with which its new inhabitants are sprouting up and taking off. Blink and you’ll miss a new restaurant, a new store or even food hall. Case in point: Tommy Bahama opened on Monday.

This is not only a tasty combination of flavors, but it looks impressive. Each ingredient is layered in a clear glass bowl, making it a work of art…so pretty and colorful, you may hesitate a moment before dipping into the bowl.

The flavors in this dessert are definitely summery and sure to conjure up images of sitting in a beach chair set on white sand alongside warm ocean breezes.
